In 2005 we moved to Italy full time. We live in the town of Neive, which is in the Barbaresco wine growing area of the Piemonte Region. It was a year of good-byes, we sold Johns studio and our loft in Portland, Oregon and we are seeing if we are cut out to be expatriates.
I can't quite pin down the moment when moving to Italy went from being a dream to a reality. John and I kept thinking the other would chicken out first, and neither of us did. Plus we moved to an area that has incredible beauty, great friends, and wonderful food and wine, which makes staying here easy.
I write essays and travel stories while still taking care of some clients back in the states. I'm also working on a book about the life of what we would call in the United States an illegal alien and the Italians call a clandestine existence. I like that. It makes me feel far more interesting than I really am.
If you know anyone who needs a writer, or if you have suggestions about where I can market my work, please make a connection. Good mojo will follow - I swear!
